(Multi-)Element analysis

One part of our research is the analysis of elements down to the (ultra)trace level in biological samples such as serum and cerebrospinal fluid, and in environmental samples such as (river) water using ICP-quadrupole-MS, a tandem quadrupole ICP-MS configuration (ICP-MS/MS) and ICP-time-of-flight-MS. One major topic is the total metal quantification in tumor, organs and serum/blood of mice after treatment with metal-based anticancer drugs. This work is performed in cooperation with the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, University of Vienna and the Cancer Research Group of the Medical University of Vienna. Sample preparation is either based on microwave-assisted acid digestion or sample are measured undiluted by flow injection using a bioinert or metal-free HPLC system as sample introduction system.
