Speciation analysis

Speciation analysis is a field of metallomics that aims at the identification and quantification of the different chemical and physical forms of an element in a sample. This can be achieved by combining chromatographic separation and elemental analysis. Our group applies speciation analysis to investigate complex research questions in the fields of cancer and neurodegenerative diseases research.

Current topics:

  • Characterization of β-Amyloid (Aβ40, Aβ42) standards using species-specific HPLC-ICP-MS/MS
  • Quantification of ferritin bound iron in murine samples for Alzheimer’s disease studies using species-specific isotope dilution mass spectrometry
